Final Project

I decided to create a final outcome for question 4 Just Whistle as I also wrote my essay about Interaction, I thought I would be able to use the research I had found for my essay to help influence my ideas for my design for my final outcome.

British Music Experience

Gestural Interaction- Gestures can originate from any bodily motion from the face or hand.

For the final part of this module I will be looking at a way to create an interactive device with music. I want to create this as I feel it relates to everything I have studied over this module. Focusing on the British Music Experience for my essay I gained alot of background research on interactive devices. Using tactile I want to create a soundboard enabling the user to interact and create a piece of music they can have fun with.

I individually created 22 boxes in the same layout form as my webpage. I converted these each into buttons. To each button I added a sound I added it so when the mouse flows over the shapes the sound plays. I tried to add some full mp3 songs however I was having great trouble trying to stop and play and loop the songs, I tried many different ways unfortunately I was unable to do this.

My Final outcome for what I have created I feel is quite a simple yet effective board. The board is relevant to my Hotglue site and the music experience. The images I added made it visually more interesting. I have enjoyed creating this as I have not made any type of interactive design I hope to be able to expand my knowledge on creating these types of design and be able to create more at a higher level hopefully improving on this design aswell. The video shows an example of how my sound board works as I was unable to upload it to my site I have put it all onto cd.

In Garageband I made a series of piano chords using the manual keyboard. I record each note individually and added it to my flash document.

After I had created my working sound board I wanted to collaborate something else into it so when the notes played something else appeared. I tried a few things such as the white boxes changing colour however the idea that looked the most effective was adding photos from my webpage to connect and interact with my board.

As I am not too confident on flash I began to create some basic buttons, watching tutorials I managed to created these effective buttons that almost looked 3d. the colours changed when the mouse went over the button.

This video is one I came across when I was researching sound interaction. I really like how they have created this and it was this video that has given me the idea to create something similar using flash. I will experiment on here as I am not a confident user of flash however I am looking foward to experimenting on flash. If I can succesfully create an interactive design I will be aiming to ensure there is tactile interaction enabling the using to use the sense of touch or motion to make the design work.
